The Reality of Creation; Ken Ham Part II
More than 20 years ago, Ken Ham left his homeland of Australia to make America his own, personal mission field.
“I tell people that 21 years ago my wife and I came over as missionaries to America, to really call the church in America back to the foundation of the authority of the word of God,” Ken said.
He is the president and founder of ‘Answers in Genesis’ which is an internet and radio program aimed at bringing people the Biblical truth on the highly debated topic of Creation. He has been a Christian his entire life and you would think there would be an across the board consensus among fellow Christians on our Creation and Creator.
“I tell you where I really get frustrated; it’s with the Christians because they should know better. I find that the majority of Christian leaders, the majority of Bible colleges and seminaries and I think the majority of people in our churches and with 30 years of experience I think I can say that they will not take a stand on Genesis as they should. They adopt the theory of millions of years and evolutionary ideas. It’s really no different than the Israelites adopting the pagan religions of the day and then not believing in God’s word. Look what He did to them, He judged them and I believe that’s what He’s doing in America right now. The real issue comes down to the authority of the word of God. Is this or is this not the word of God? Genesis is written as history and Genesis 1-11 is the foundational history for the rest of the Bible, all of our doctrines are founded in that history, the Gospel message is founded in that history. When you compromise that history and undermine that history not only are you undermining the history of all our doctrines and of the Gospel you’re really saying I don’t have to take God’s word as it is written.”
He goes on to say, “When you believe in millions of years and evolution, which you don’t get from the Bible, it’s man’s beliefs about the past and you reinterpret the creation of Adam and Eve or whatever it is, you are actually saying man is in authority over God’s word.”
There is no denying, his ministry has been blessed. Not only does he broadcast on more than 900 radio stations, he is also the founder of the world’s only Creation Museum.
“Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum are actually the biggest apologetics organization in the world and the largest creation organization in the world. It’s interesting looking back on my life; I never set out to do that or had any aims to do that. In fact, my wife has often said to me, ’If you look back on the time when you were a teacher, I was a high school teacher and after five years resigned to go full-time into a creation ministry that we started in our home in Australia. There were a lot of faith steps along the way and lots of reasons as to why that happened and the way the Lord led us,” Ken said.
Located in northern Kentucky, the Creation Museum is part of his apologetics ministry that never apologizes for the word of God but defends it, as it is written.
“What has happened is the devil and the world have attacked the word in this day and age, in this particular place, Genesis 1-11 in particular and much of the church has said that doesn’t matter as long as you trust in Christ. We still believe in the authority in the word of God but we’ve compromised it. You can’t in America, today try to get the 10 Commandments back in a culture that doesn’t believe in the book they come from. You can’t try to get creation back into the schools, which no longer are founded, in the word of God. We’ve got to do in America is re-establish that the Bible is the absolute authority of the word of God and that starts in the book of Genesis,” he concludes.
